About this funding round
The Cobargo Community Bushfire Recovery Fund wishes to support projects that beautify Cobargo Village Main Street as our community rebuilds following the Black Summer bushfires. Please note that the objectives for this portion of the fund continue to support bushfire recovery but are focused on physical improvements to the village main street.
We’re looking for community-driven initiatives that strengthen our village and bring people together.
Beautification projects should:
- Enhance the amenity, visual appeal and character of the village
- Be visible from or accessible to the main street
- Foster community connection and pride
- Support the community’s ongoing recovery
What We Can Fund
We are looking for projects that:

- enhance the amenity and appearance of our village main street, particularly around the new buildings
- showcase Cobargo’s creative and cultural identity, supporting the arts and cultural activities that make our community unique
- restore visitor confidence and attract people back to our region.
What We Can’t Fund
- Emergency relief or immediate crisis needs
- Projects already covered by other not-for-profit organizations or government agencies
- Private business projects without demonstrated strong community benefits, value and partnership
- Large capital purchases such as vehicles
Examples of eligible projects include:
Physical Improvements
- Planters and gardens – Street plantings, flower boxes, garden beds
- Public art installations – Murals, sculptures, community mosaics on building facades or in public spaces
- Street furniture – Benches, bike racks, outdoor seating areas
- Lighting – Decorative or feature lighting to enhance safety and ambiance
- Signage and wayfinding – Welcome signs, historical markers, directional signage with artistic elements
- Community Spaces – Pocket parks or green spaces – Small gathering areas with seating and plantings
- Community noticeboards – Attractive, functional boards for local information
- Outdoor gathering areas – Shaded seating zones, community meeting spots
Decorative Elements
- Bunting, flags, or banners – Seasonal or permanent decorative features
- Window box programs – Coordinated plantings across multiple buildings
- Facade improvements – Paint schemes, awnings, or architectural features (for community buildings)
Cultural/Historical Elements
- Memorial or recognition installations – Acknowledging the fires and recovery
- Cultural heritage markers – Celebrating local history and Indigenous connection
- Interpretive displays – Sharing community stories and heritage
Who Can Apply
We welcome applications from community groups and individuals auspiced by a community group in Cobargo and the surrounding area. All projects must be delivered or auspiced by an appropriate organisation and demonstrate genuine community consultation and support.
Deadlines
Applications will open on 17 February. Applications will be assessed on a rolling basis and will be open until June 30 or when all funds are expended, whichever occurs first.

- Evidence of community consultation and support
- Letters of support
- Proof of partnership where relevant
- Detailed project budget with quotes
